Tim Ho Wan Brings Traditional Authentic Chinese Dim Sum to Hawaii

HONOLULU- Tim Ho Wan, the famed and popular “Dim Sum Specialists” from Hong Kong, announces the launch of its newest location in Honolulu at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, with a grand opening on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 10 a.m.

Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum Specialists was founded and is owned by Chef Mak Kwai Pui, formerly the chef at Lung King Heen, a Michelin three-star restaurant, and at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, along with partner Chef Leung Fai Keung.

“Hawaii is well known for its pineapples, and we are trying to use local products and support local vendors,” said Anna Tam, general manager of Tim Ho Wan Hawaii. As a result, Chef Mak has developed two dishes exclusive to Hawaii that combine traditional dim sum with Hawaiian cuisine: Steamed Fish Bundle with Pineapple and Pan Fried Black Rice Mochi with Pineapple.

Tim Ho Wan ensures high quality cuisine by hand-making each dish to order with only fresh ingredients delivered daily. Its dim sum menu features world-famous dishes: BBQ Pork Buns and Rice Rolls, along with other classic dim sum such as Pan Fried Turnip Cake, Sui Mai, Har Gow and Steamed Egg Cake. Each dish is made-to-order to ensure quality and freshness.

The first Tim Ho Wan restaurant opened in 2009 in Hong Kong’s Mong Kok district and offered traditional and authentic dim sum. Combining high quality with affordable prices, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite. In 2010, it was awarded a Michelin star, making it one of the most affordable Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong. WDI Group will operate the Tim Ho Wan Waikiki, as well as future expansions in America and Europe.

The time and date for Tim Ho Wan’s April 26 grand opening were selected based on the Chinese lunar calendar. The date was chosen to bring the greatest luck to the opening of the restaurant, whose name literally means “adding luck” in Chinese. The grand opening will feature a
combination of Chinese and Hawaiian culture, including a lion dance performance and Hawaiian local blessing.
Tim Ho Wan is located at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, Building B, Suite B303, 2233 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, Hawaii, 96815. For more information, please visit timhowanusa.com or call 808-888-6088.
